We have had the pleasure of capturing numerous beautiful memories and precious moments in the unique streets and scenes of Palm Cove. Taken in a tucked-away alcove this small yet scenic hideaway is highlighted not only by its privacy in comparison to most locations but also by its beauty. With a stunning pond filled with pink and white water lilies accompanied by a water fountain, the location is perfect for an intimate shoot. We love to utilise the shady spots provided by the surrounding greenery to avoid any harsh light throughout the day. By avoiding bright lighting, we capture you in a soft and gentle light and avoid casting distracting shadows under your eyes and chin. This photograph shows the importance of this technique as despite being taken around midday we made use of the natural shadows around us to create a natural final product. Final words on your Palm Cove photography adventure

However, although it is an ideal location for many of our clients, beach photography’s benefits also come with its own ‘downsides’.

Let’s start with the positive side:

We would like to mention one of the greatest things about beach photography is the lighting, if captured at the right time. We truly enjoy capturing the ‘golden hours’ on the beach. From approximately one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset the light is both soft, beautifully tinted, and just the right brightness for us  to capture that magical moment. We always recommend booking a photo session during those hours in order to capture some simply gorgeous shots. Because fading sunlight making your skin glow as waves gently glide in the background never looks less than exceptional through the lens.

Yet another reason to schedule your next photo session at the beach is the relaxed and stress-free environment it encourages. Not only is it an ambient environment, but it is also relaxing and scenic. The beach will never disappoint, and each shot will give a picturesque image handcrafted by nature itself.

Ok, how about the drawbacks of a photo session at the beach?

Depending on the weather conditions your clothes, hair and props may not be as cooperative as they usually are. If you are especially particular about your dress flowing perfectly or your hair standing in place the beach may not be for you. Winds can increase and decrease in strength at random, so no perfect weather is ever guaranteed. As this is the tropics weather conditions can go from sunny with a rainbow to a raging hurricane fast. However, time is of the element and although rainclouds may seem less than ideal, they can offer some beautiful and gentle light if captured appropriately. Of course, if cloudy weather is expected to turn into rain, we will be required to shift the shoot to a later date. Please note that we avoid photo sessions on the middle of bright sunny days as these bright lights not only cast unflattering shadows on your face but also will make you squint.
